Maite Velez-Couto
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Maite Vélez-Couto is a senior account executive at rbb Public Relations, bringing her media savvy, out-of-the-box-thinking and event management expertise to the firm’s luxury travel, leisure and food & beverage clients. Think Canyon Ranch Hotel & Spa, AMResorts’ three luxury resort brands, Bijoux Terner, and Homewood Suites by Hilton.
Prior to joining rbb, Maite honed her media relations and management skills at local PR firm TARA Ink. There, she worked with a variety of hospitality and entertainment brands including Lowes Hotels, Evian, Condé Nast Publications, SUSHISAMBA, Boost Mobile, Möet & Chandon and more.
In 1996 – when Madonna was still neighbor – Maite moved to the MIA to study at the University of Miami where she received a bachelor’s degree in Spanish literature and an associate degree in architecture. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities and a graduate degree in Spanish Language Journalism from Florida International University. In 2009, Maite officially became a wish granter with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Outside of work, Maite is a Pop Culture aficionado with a particular passion for all things food! Music, movies, art and design are up there on the list, almost as high as weekly manicures, Forever 21, and visits back to “the Island.” And did we say she has an opinion about everything?
